Brand identity for creative space

Anima is a creative space shaped by the spirit of French fashion and the atmosphere of the Parisian youth scene — emotional, expressive, and instinctively aesthetic.

The main inspiration we took from old streets of Paris — especially from the first part of 20th century. We wanted to convey that vintage yet dramatic feeling of changes.

Exiles in Paris After the 1917 Revolution
That era—the early 20th century, encompassing the Belle Époque (up to 1914) and the roaring 1920s—is the perfect source for a vintage yet dramatic feeling. It was a time when the city was a bustling, vibrant tapestry of "old-world charm" meeting the "energetic, fast-paced modern age.

The project brings together three interconnected directions within one visual and cultural language: a bistro that transforms from a daytime café into a candlelit evening destination, a series of photo studio spaces designed for creative production, and a multi-brand showroom curated around niche fashion labels and emerging aesthetics.

The identity was built around the image of a living character — a woman whose environment is shaped by emotion, spontaneity, and personal instinct. Rather than creating a static branding system, the goal was to construct a visual language that feels alive: slightly impulsive, elegant without effort, and deeply human in its expression.

The development of the visual identity began with an exploration of several distinct directions. Before arriving at the final logo, three alternative concepts were created during the process — each reflecting different aspects of Anima’s character, from refined editorial minimalism to more structured and graphic approaches.

Through this exploration, the final identity emerged as the most emotionally resonant solution: expressive, instinctive, and alive.

At the center of the system is a handwritten logotype designed as a gesture. Its elongated strokes, uneven texture, and pronounced 30° slant create a sense of movement and immediacy, as if captured in motion rather than carefully constructed.

The descriptor follows the same angular rhythm, balancing cursive typography with structured uppercase forms to create tension between emotional softness and visual stability.
The palette was designed to feel cinematic and intimate at the same time. A faded warm red acts as the emotional core of the identity — dramatic, sensual, and slightly nostalgic, like a lipstick trace left on glass.
Dusty beige introduces warmth and tactility, while a deep dark tone grounds the system with contrast
and restraint. Together, the colors create an atmosphere that feels both delicate and emotionally charged.

A recurring graphic motif of blurred plant shadows adds softness and ambiguity to the visual language. These diffused silhouettes behave almost like fragments of memory — fleeting, atmospheric, and impossible to fully grasp.

Typography continues this idea of movement. Headlines are positioned along the same angular axis as the logo, while italic forms extend the handwritten energy of the identity into the editorial system. Text becomes part of the composition itself — not simply informational, but expressive and spatial.

The grid system introduces structure and rhythm into the layouts, creating a visual balance between movement and negative space. Rather than functioning as a rigid framework, the grid acts as a quiet support system — allowing elements to be positioned freely, guided by the feeling of balance, breathing space, and natural composition.

The result is a branding system that feels less like a fixed identity and more like a living atmosphere: emotional, tactile, and constantly in motion. Anima exists somewhere between fashion, memory, and performance — balancing elegance with spontaneity, structure with instinct, and softness with drama.
