The interior project for the new brand Pounders marked a significant milestone for the client, as it combined the launch of the network’s first full-scale establishment with the creation of a unique space.

The name Pounders merges two words: pound—a nod to the core product (burgers), and founder—a symbol of the brand’s pioneering spirit. The challenge was to translate these meanings into the space, merging comfort with an atmosphere that balances classic and contemporary elements.

The process began with an in-depth study of the brand’s identity and the ambiance the client envisioned: a timeless, cozy space ideal for family gatherings. The location itself perfectly complemented this idea—a dine-in ranch-style food court with dark wooden pavilions, lakeside walking areas, and a relaxed atmosphere.

plan

Our goal was to create a space that would become a true “third place” for people, where they could enjoy everyday moments. At the same time, the brand’s innovative spirit, reflected in the word founder, had to be expressed in the design through bold and striking elements.

The interior is built on functional and simple materials: lacquered plywood, stainless steel, and multi-format tilesarranged in a strict graphic pattern. The black lacquered MDF used for the bar references 1960s furniture with its signature metal framing.

The project also incorporates the iconic Finnish Artek Likki chairs from 1951 in a soft milky shade, adding a refined touch. In contrast, an accent curved structure above the seating area, inspired by the capital letter of the café’s name, serves as a focal point. Beneath it, angular chairs reminiscent of modular construction pieces reinforce the play on form.

The theme of blending classic and modern elements continues in unique details, such as a sliding board concealing the ice cream station. Its design is inspired by a 1970s vintage calendar, but instead of round elements, it features square, pixel-like forms, with text explaining the etymology of the café’s name. The stainless steel and acrylic light fixtures, with cut-out brand descriptors (Brew, Eats), reinforce the aesthetics of industrial design from the past.

This project embodies a harmonious blend of quality, comfort, and bold accents, creating a space that remains both functional and visually expressive.
